Dr. Boban Martic
Dr. Boban Martic holds a Doctorate in piano performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He received his Bachelor of Arts (2002) and Master of Arts (2005) in piano performance at University of Arts in Belgrade, Belgrade, Serbia, and Master of Music in piano performance at Syracuse University (2006).
A native of Belgrade, Serbia, Dr. Martic has earned many high graduate honors such as Eloise K. Heaton Graduate Fellowship and Hira Poncha Memorial Award from Syracuse University School of Music as an outstanding music student. He was also first place winner of the European Pedagogy Teaching Association competition in Serbia (2003), won third place at the II Isidor Bajic Piano Memorial in Novi Sad (2004), winner of the Syracuse University Orchestra Concerto Competition (2005) as well as earning numerous prestigious prizes in Serbia as an undergraduate competitor.
Dr. Martic has studied piano with renowned pianists and professors such as Ninoslav Živković, Wei-Yi Yang, Steven Heyman, Paul Barnes and Mark Clinton. He has also performed in masterclasses for many renowned pianists, such as Claude Frank, Paul Gulda, Melvin Tan, and Dorian Leljak. While at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, he served as Dr. Mark Clinton’s studio assistant, the highest teaching responsibility given to a D.M.A. student.
Boban is currently a professor of piano at the Omaha Conservatory of Music, where he has taught for over 9 years. His most recent performances include multiple concertos with Orchestra Omaha, weddings, as well as parties within the community.
Leigh Ann Martic
Leigh Ann Martic is currently the middle school band director of nearly 250 band students in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She is a graduate (2007) of University of Nebraska-Lincoln, earning her Masters of Music in Flute Performance. She received her Bachelor’s in Music Education from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois, graduating Summa Cum Laude with University Honors. A native of Ottawa, Illinois, Martic has earned many high undergraduate honors such as Honors Scholar, Dean’s List, and Presser Scholar.
She was also first place winner of the Flute Society of Kentucky Collegiate Artist Competition (2003), finalist and winner of the Illinois State University Concerto Competition (2004), as well as earning principal positions in the top ensembles at Illinois State. At the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Leigh Ann Martic was a graduate teaching assistant, and has earned principal flute in both ISU and UNL’s Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Chamber Orchestra. She was selected as the principal flute of the 2007 International Youth Wind Orchestra at the WASBE Conference in Killarney, Ireland, as well as earning the Student Achievement Recognition Award from the Music Teachers National Association, an award recognizing leadership, academic achievement, and excellence in teaching.
She was a guest conductor and clinician at the 2014 Illinois Valley Band Festival, working with middle school students from the Illinois Valley area. Martic’s most recent performances have been as a substitute flute for the Omaha Symphony, weddings, acted as a DJ for homecomings and proms, as well as guest performances in the area. Leigh Ann Martic studied flute with Heather Francis, Donna Martin, Sue Gillio, Dr. Kimberly McCoul Risinger, and Dr. John Bailey. She has also participated in masterclasses with many renowned flutists, such as Jimmy Walker, Alexa Still, Thomas Robertello, and Ian Clarke. Martic currently resides in Omaha, Nebraska, with her husband, two daughters, and a son.
